  • Choosing a color of bathroom tile may seem to be a simple task, but important factors should be considered. You will no doubt have a color scheme in mind for your tile installation, but personal preference is only one thing to consider in planning for your new bathroom tiles.

    Dark-Colored Tile

Dark-colored tiles will do the best in hiding dust and dirt and are your best choice in high traffic areas. Be careful however when choosing a dark color because dark tones will make a small bathroom look even smaller. This could cause the users of your bathroom to feel uncomfortably closed in. Consider also that certain dark colors such as deep purple, navy blue and dark brown will show dust.

    Light-Colored Tile

Solid white tile and tile of other light or pastel shades will show every bit of dirt, dust, lint and hair in your bathroom. Constant cleaning is something you need to consider. Do you have time to keep light colors looking fresh and new? Definitely avoid light tile colors in high traffic areas.

    Avoid Solid Color Schemes

Solid colors can make a room look bland and boring. Think about well-designed restaurants or movie theater bathrooms. You will notice that attractive tile designs usually mix a variety of colors. Consider a darker tile and grout for the floor and a lighter colored tile for sink areas, wall areas and bathing areas. When considering grout options note that dark-toned grout will require much less frequent cleaning and scrubbing.
