A name badge is used to help identify people at business meetings/conferences, seminars and other gatherings. The badge may include a person's name, title, business logo and tagline. Some name badges are simple, while others are multi-colored, vibrant, and pre-printed and include graphics or borders. You may purchase a name badge and write/type the names you want on it or create one from scratch.

Avery

You'll find free, customizable (blank or pre-designed) templates at http://www.avery.com. Avery lets you choose and download the template you need. Once it is downloaded, you can update or remove a logo and change a name, title and slogan on the name badge template. You may purchase the name badge label you want to use and then find the product number that matches your label sheet using Avery.

C-Line Products

Create your own name badge using the templates at http://www.c-lineproducts.com/templates.html. To begin, click on the name badge link you want to use (under the "Name Badges" category) and view the badge dimensions. Then download the template you'd like to use and customize it for your project.

Corporate Express

You can create name badges from scratch at Corporate Express. Go to http://www.corporateexpress.com/label_template_name.html, and check the badge dimensions to find the one that works for your needs. Select a template and download it.

Microsoft Word Templates

Microsoft Word lets you download name badge templates directly into the program. Start by selecting "File, New" in Word. Proceed to the "New Document" task pane, and type "name badge" under "Templates." Then click on "Go." You'll find several templates to choose from. Alternatively, you may create a name badge from scratch in Word. It's best to already have the name badge labels you want to use. Open Word, and choose "Tools, Letters and Mailing, Envelopes and Labels" to get started. Make sure the "Labels" tab is selected, and click on "Options." Referencing the product number on your label, pick a label product and product number. Select the name badge size, and click on "OK." Then select "New Document" to load the blank template onto your page, and add the content.
