  • <h4 class="dechead">On One Hand: Size of the Wall

The size of the wall is the first consideration. Take an accurate measure of the length, width and height you want the wall to be, and write down each measurement.

On the Other: Size of the Concrete Blocks

Now measure the dimensions of the concrete blocks you are going to use to build the wall (add 1/4 inch for mortar and spacing for each dimension). Divide the length of the concrete blocks into the total length of your wall. Now divide the total height of the blocks into the total height your wall will be. Multiply the two results and write that number down. Now, divide the total width of the blocks into the total width of the wall and multiply this number by your last result. The answer is the total number of bricks you need to build your wall.

    Bottom Line

You may need more than the total number of bricks you calculated because some blocks may break, or you may find you want to build the wall longer or higher. In any case, you will need at least the number of bricks you have calculated in the above section to build your wall.
