In the Old Testiment there is such a story. That being the story of Samson.Samson was a Nazarine and Nazarines didn't cut their hair. As Samsons hair grew longer he would become stronger for God had given it to him to have super human strengh for as long as he kept his hair growing. All his enemies sought to discover the secret to his super stength.
Eventually after Samson had given many false reasons for his strength to his girlfriend, Delilah, he did reveil the truth to her and told her that if his hair was cut off he would lose his strength. Delilah was a Philistine who actually cared nothing for him but was hired to discover the secret so that she could betray him to his enemies. As he slept she cut his hair off then called the Philistines in to take him prisoner.
They gouged out his eyes and tied his arms across two pillers in a promenent place so he could be spat at by all the Philistines. After a few months went by of being tortured daily Samsons hair had grown out enough that he felt he could ask God to return his strength to him. God did give him his super strength back. Samson then used that strength to pull down the pillers he had been stretched between. These pillers as it turned out were the main support for the building. The place was filled with Philistines. The place came down on them and killed them all including Samson.
He didn't want to live out the rest of his life as a blind man so he chose to take out as many of his enemies that he could with him as he commited suicide. It was recorded that more Philistines died there than in any of his other conquests against them.†††
