For example, will a government run healthcare system result in lower quality of care, or whether or not a government run system will cost Americans more than the current insurance system? People who ignore the issues and change the subject (e.g. by changing the subject to the character of a person) usually do so because they know they cannot logically support their viewpoint on the merits. So, Pumpkin and Bassie, is the reason you do not address these issues on the merits because you know ideological agenda is unrealistic?

  They say due to Keyensian multiplier. They are right of course, there is indeed a multiplier x2. Each $1 taken away from free market economy shrinks amount of money circulating in free market by $2 - that's the multiplier at work. Meaning each job "saved or created" by stimulus kills 2 jobs in real sector of economy. Note that actual unemployment numbers confirm this conclusion : instead of projected new 3 million jobs, we got 3 million more jobs lost.

• Bush encouraged the lending institutions to extend risky mortgages. Push through legislation that allowed it afte 9/11 justifying it by saying home ownership is the best thing to get Americans back on their feet. He knew, or rather is Daddy and Cheney knew it would not be a problem until after he was elected a second term so he did not care about the effect this would have on the economy or the citizens.

  You are right, Bush (as did Clinton) did encourage the lending industry to give risky mortgages. This was largely under pressure from human rights groups, however, to equalize home equity for minorities. Bush and Clinton (and many others) have played a part in the economic downturn, but they are not the major cause.
