Nope. At 13 a person may have criminal culpability, but he is not emotionally or intellectually mature. His brain hasn't developed. He is a child and should be treated as such, not cast into a cell for eternity. The boy he is at 13 is different to the boy he will be at 15, 18, 25. He isn't beyond help. It's much harder to say that about an adult but 13 year olds needs punishment, discipline, rehabilitation and education. It is not enough just to remove the death penalty for minors and give them life. Minors should be treated entirely differently to adults when it comes to punishment and sentence. There needs to be a much greater focus on rehabilitation and education, with the potential for much shorter sentencing, that's my opinion.

I don't think anyone should be sent to jail for life, except for murder. Lengthy jail terms for the more serious crimes should suffice. If you're 25yrs. old and sentenced to 25yrs. in prison, you'll have plenty of time to see the error of your ways.

I don't care what anyone anywhere says. Kids CAN be reformed and ought to be. If this kid were reformed and then stole a car at 18, THEN we could take severe punishment. Sentencing him to life is saying that we no longer care about rational law.

Link does not work! However, non-fatal crime, I would say not. I do not think any child should be sentence to prison for life with out parole. Our Jails and Prison system how ever are a joke. They do not server there purpose. To many people do crime to go to prison or to get back in because that's all they no. Prisoners have to many rights in prison. Most are almost like a resort. You have a bed, meals, exercise room, play yard, television, radio, books, internet, etc. There are people in this world who do not even have that and are good citizens.

I dont care how young you are. if you are committing heinous crimes you are a bad seed and you will commit worse when you are older. You deserve what you get.
