  • I hate idealism.
  • Well I think it's poorly worded: obviously, all men are not created equal -- in fact, all men AND women are different. Would have been better to say "we consider all people to be entitled to equal rights", which sort of is what the Declaration of Independence says later on -- so I suppose we can forgive a few clumsy ideas that slipped by the editor :-)
  • One must clearly study the life and believes of the founding fathers, if they do they will discover that all of them believed in God and were inspired to creat the document called the constitution. I believe that the founding fathers believed the following as I do. There are as many thoughts and ideas about the phrase, “God created all man equal.” So it really comes down to what you believe. My believe is this, when the word “Man” is used in the scriptures, it is referring to a whole and complete man, which is a husband and a wife. Naturally, men and women have many differences. Simply all of us have differences in looks, mannerism, built, emotions, etc. ; so what does it mean to say all are created equal, purely that all of us when we come into this world have the Light of Christ; meaning all of us, whether physically, mentally or other handicap(s), have the spirit of Christ to be with them. Yes, even those in countries that have never heard of Christ. Now once again, there are as many thoughts or ideas about what the Light of Christ means as there are most teachings of the scriptures. But to put a 21st century term or definition made by man, such as created equal, on what God means is fruitless and useless. I will give you another example, “Spare the rod spoil the child.” In the 21st century and throughout the past centuries man has interpreted rod to mean corporal punishment, which is the furthest thing from what it means. A Shepherd leads and guides his sheep with a staff or rod. A sheepherder is behind driving the sheep, a Shepherd is ahead leading and guiding. If he does not lead the sheep down the path correctly they can fall off the cliff or go astray, thus they will die (rot or spoil) and there you have spare the rod “Spoil” or the child will go bad. You guide them through life properly so the do not go astray. Again, it all comes down to what you believe and what you do not believe in.
  • That all human beings have the same basic rights and privaleges under the eye of heaven.
  • To me it means that all men (people) are created equal in the eyes of the law. All are born with equal rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. It means that no one has more rights than anyone else, regardless of gender, race, religion, disability, sexual orientation or age. It does not mean than any person has the right to expect handouts, to be promoted out of pity rather than merit, to be afforded a "pass" on his responsibilities. It does not mean that people are entitled to equal wealth, physical beauty or attention. It means that people are self governing to the extent they actually take on that responsibility, and only to that extent.
  • this means nothing thats not the way life works, its the way life should work. if one was born into a rich family he/she is no longer equal to the of the world
  • I think it means we all are born with the same opportunities and options as everyone around us. We, however, are not created equal because we do not all answer the questions the same way. We think differently and therefore we are not equal.

  • It means that we are all born with inherent value as human beings and that no-one is born better or worse that anyone else in terms of this inherent value we place on human beings. In practical terms it means that no-one has the right to claim superiority over anyone else based on the other's 'accidents of birth' i.e. family social status, race, ethnicity, religion, creed, nationality, gender etc. Superiority can only legitimately be claimed on individual merit.
