yeah I have sat on several.They always say you can fake the results but you will usually find the same question further on but worded differently so I believe personally they can be a useful tool for analysis.

We use personality tests for all of our new hires - all new hires are required to take it, but as the hiring manager, I am also allowed to use it to narrow down the candidates. Surprisingly, the test we use is pretty accurate. Recently, I was down to 12 candidates that I really liked. I had them all take the test, then I was able to narrow it down to 6.
