I sure do remember Carl, still think of the episode when he was wearing a "zoot suit", Joe Flynn was hilarious also, waa waa waa.
A very funny actor. Didn't know he was a comedian. Must be getting old, since my childhood favorites are dying.
I do remember him, but only from McHale's Navy...which was one of my all time favorite shows as a kid.
I am watching him now on a The Monkees DVD. The episode is entitled: "Find The Monkees(The Audition)".

You're reading Do you remember CARL BALLANTINE, who played the "Lester Gruber" character on the 1960's TV series, "McHALE'S NAVY?" He passed away at 92 on 11-10-09, and I thought this extremely funny and talented magician deserved to be mentioned & remembered.
