Speaking as both a buyer and a seller I really hate eBay! And speaking as both a buyer and a seller I really love Amazon. Which one do you prefer and why?

eBay's code seems to have been written by Neanderthals. It's awful!

Amazon's website just works - it's flawless. Another reason to love Amazon.

None taken - I've had similar experiences on eBay. That's a big part of the problem, there's no protection for either the buyer or the seller and because the web pages aren't as standardized and consistent on eBay misunderstanding can easier occur.
.
For example I had to sell a Gibson Grabber bass that I absolutely loved to make a mortgage payment. It was already breaking my heart that I had to sell it when some lunatic informs me that he's going to win the bidding PERIOD and was demanding shipping concessions. That was a red flag.
.
So I informed him that my terms were my terms - period.
.
He wins the auction.
.
I ship the bass as promised.
.
He THEN comes back and raises hell because he claims that the neck isn't original and that the case isn't a Gibson case.
.
I informed him that I wa the second owner and I knew the original owner personally and knew that he wasn't capable of doing a neck replacement AND...

that when he told me the story about how he purchased it "back in the day" from Stanton Music it was fresh out of the box from the factory.

And I told that I didn't state that the case was a Gibson case I just said that it was the case that it came when I bought it from the original owner - he assumed that.
.
I offered him his money back if he would just repackage everything and ship it back - I just wanted my beloved Grabber back and out of the hands of this psycho!
.
He then replies and tells me that he's going give to his kids to play with and after they're done destroying it he's going to take an axe to it, piss on it and then use it for firewood (actually I'm not use if the piss came before the axe or not - but you get the idea).
.
I reiterate AGAIN that if he will just return the bass intact and in it's original condition I will GLADLY refund ALL his money AND I will pay for shipping.
.
He replied with a two-word answer.

I never saw my beloved bass again.

I really feel your pain. That is awful yet somehow seems possible with Ebay. Watching that related YouTube video I feel more sorry now for the seller than I do the buyer. I don't know the ins and outs of how Ebay and Amazon work, I just know that one carries a reassuring reputation and one is covered in warning signs. And the whole 'making a claim' process is ridiculous.

Do you still use Ebay? That would put me off for life to be honest.
