Can i be pregnant if i still had my period? and if so would i still have cramps?

• okay I'll start with the bleeding;
  
  first off, I'll say that if you ever have a tendancey to have iregular bleeding from your period, i.e. some are long, some are short, then having a short bleeding period in and of itself isn't a sign of pregnancey
  
  Also, if you generally have steady periods, know that you could still experience short periods a few times as well.
  
  On the other hand, an unusually short period might not be a period after all. the blood release during you period is the the blood dislodging from your uterine wall after menstruation. But about ten days after conception, the egg buries itself into that blood on the uterus, and sometimes dislodges blood in the process. This result in spotting which many girls mistake for their period, if it's about that time of the month.
  
  As for the cramping;
  
  cramping can be pretty common during a pregnancy. and it can come from various things, which means that they could range severity.

• lets say that under the circumstances that you are pregnant.
  
  in the beginning, it would be common to experience 'implantation cramps' which is when the egg is attaching itself to the uteral wall, this would hapen within the same period of time as when you would experience the spotting mentioned above. Generally these cramps would only last a short period of time, say for about a day.
  
  The second cause of cramping would generally start about a month after conception (from my experience) when you body starts to stretch your uteral wall to make room for the fetis, and would happen from time to time throughout the pregnancy. Typically these are mild.
  
  The third is misscarriage cramping. this can happen in early pregnancy as well as longer term ones, in which the cramping is accompanied by bleeding. These are unusually painful compaired to menstral cramps.
  
  if the cramping seems to be occuring on one side and not the other, this could be a sign of eptopic pregnancey, but I don't beleive

  Other less serious causes of cramping are just results of constipation, gas, or similiar ailments
  
  but again, I say that I'm only giving the circumstances of being pregnant, because if you aren't the short bleeding, and unusual cramping time would just be resulting from irregular mensturation. And if it is actually your period, it impossible for you to actually be pregnant.

• I just thought I might give you this tidbit of information, since you posted here :)
  
  If a woman has her actual period, it's impossible for her to be pregnant, because the bleeding is actually the menstral blood dislodging from the wall after it's no longer any good. therefore if the egg were attached somehow, if would either die and fall out with the blood
  
  on the other hand, yes girls have gone thinking they weren't pregnant when they were, because they experience spotting which is blood that happens to be dislodged but the fetus for various reasons, and they mistake it for their period :)
