I'm sure it is hard but it isn't healthy to "hang on" like she does. No psychiatrist would condone this behavior. How must her daughter feel, she is still here and doesn't get near as much attention?
by spooner on November 11th, 2009
Yes but sometimes people just don't get over things, there is no telling them any different, psychiatrist or no, it may indeed be unhealthy, but she may not feel like life is worth much without him, and who are you to say that it is.
I have seen 1 woman i know of that died 1 week after her spouse died, she just didn't see a purpose in life any more, granted they were in their 60's and she had been with him for a long time, but it was something she didn't want to get over, she didn't want to go on without him. She didn't kill herself, she just died, heart failure or something, I think she didn't want to live, it certainly seemed that way.

I too have seen older people whose health had declined when they lost a spouse that doesn't mean they loved them anymore than someone who live on without a lost spouse. It may mean they don't love themselves as much though...
Anyway, I understand her loss must have been very difficult but just imagine how the daughter feels that her mother doesn't think life is worth living, hmm, isn't she as loved as her brother? Don't you think we should still love the ones we haven't lost, even learn to appreciate them more while they are still with us?
by spooner on November 11th, 2009
I agree with you, we should still love the ones that are still around, its just some cant ever seem to get over these things.
There have been a lot of people that have said the greatest pain in the world is to see your child die before you, i am not sure they are right, but it is indeed a bad pain.
