Well the absolutely makes me think date, a lot of women feel it is sexist to let a man pay. So she might just be more new wave.
You could ask her "Is this a date, I wasn't sure by the way you reacted. I just want to know if we are just friends, or if I can try and kiss you at the end of the night."
I didn't know if I was on a date until my boyfriend brought me a flower and then I was so excited. But I guess that wont work for you.

well I'm not too sure on that but ask her "hyperthetically if I asked you to be my girlfriend what would you say?" if she says "why? do you like me?" just answer with a maybe. it makes you mysterious.
