Does she like me, or is she shutting me down? I
when i finally asked to take her out for dinner, she responded and said "you're not allowed to take me, as in pay for me, but i'd absolutely go to dinner." Does she just wanna be friends or date? Thanks

It could mean 3 things (A) She doesn't want to give you the idea that she wants to be more than friends.(B)she is just independent (C)She really likes you but is use to paying her own way

If she demands "Dutch" she may like to start on top as well. or it could mean that if she covers herself, how much you spend, is not an item of guilt for her, or pressure for you, C. it means that you get to go to a place that is twice as classy as the 2 of you could do out of your pocket alone. But first and foremost, she does have an interest in you. She has just said that she can buy for herself any meal or other evening diversion that she wants, but, that she would like your company.

I think it's a date. The lady is just making sure you start off on the right foot, and making sure you don't throw your weight around and insist on paying, which would reveal you as an old-fashioned patriarch.
