What scares me is that this man ended up in the millitary. Now, what if the troops were deployed, thousands of American soldiers on a ship or plane with this man, and then he whips out a bomb and decides it's time to go meet Allah? Why, oh why, can't we learn from our past mistakes?

Right now, the military is so desperate for new recruits, that just about anyone will be accepted for enlistment.
This is one really big problem for the military.
People have been sworn in to protect The United States that are drug addicts, mentally and physically unfit and whose underlying intentions are not to protect America or the American people.
The incident at Fort Hood is a classic example of underlying intentions.

AGREED.....but the military is not the problem. It's our PC society that has us living in na-na land and any military person who dropped a dime on this guy would have immediately suffered the end of his or her career.
