    If your mother is Jewish, you are Jewish.

    If someone wants to convert, the Jewish rabbinical authority (a.k.a. the Beth Din) sets a standard for prospective converts and then decides when someone is ready to be accepted as a convert.

    If you are from Jewish parents you are Jewish by birth but you can also be JEwish by religion, like Sammy Davis junior
