How did you get to school when you were a youngster?

call me thick, I just dont get how it can be uphill both ways...... ( if you go the same way there and back)......

@Miss Anubis: It was 2 miles uphill both ways through 3 feet of snow! My kids today get a ride to school 5 blocks away! How long was yours? lol!

same here, I walked to school everyday day of my life, until I got a bike for high school. Do todays kids walk anywhere? mostly not, although one of my sons, the older one, sometimes walks the 6ks home from school, with a 15 kg bag on his back, takes him about an hour and half.

To be fair, this is an entirely different world today. Kids get snatched off the streets all the time. When I was young, which was admittedly a long time ago, the streets were safe..at least our neighborhoods. We'd go out and play all day long till dark and no one ever worried about us because there was nothing to worry about. Different world today. :(

Not so common anymore, yes. Many reasons for that, but I think the most important one is how fast a child can disappear and come to harm these days.
But walking did me good. It didn't bother me :)

LOl, I think a lof of 'younger' people did, buses became an easy option to move a lot of children around ! :) thks
