Help answer this question below.
I dr this question because in my opinion, this question in no way gives any respect to the men and women who fight hard for the freedom of this entire country. It saddens me that people think badly of our troops for merely doing their job to keep this country safe.
Why should our troops be degraded by the same people they fight to protect? People who this think this way about soldiers should think how it would be without them.
So sad!
I gave you a +3 Anonymous to counteract your being downrated, though I understand AutismKnows's reasons for doing so, and do not fault her for it.
I don't buy the "support our troops at all costs" mentality, nor do I buy the assertions that they should be absolved of personal responsibility as they are "just doing their job". This hasn't been a valid argument since the Nuremberg trials. Nationalism is best left to Nazi Germany, and Stalinist Russia. It has no place in a modern democracy.
The Armed forces should BE the most highly scrutinized wing of the government of a free nation. They are employed by the people of this country, and are in service to us. It is our duty to make sure that their actions are in line with the protection of our rights at all times, lest they behave in a way that infringes on our rights with no recourse, and no checks on their power.
That said, your question portrays a very narrow view of international relations, and is a bit malicious. I support your rights to say whatever you like, but I would advise you research a bit more, and better frame your comments with regard to this issue in the future.
First off not all of us kill or even see the enemy. Cooks, clerks, doctors, mechanics, ect... may never see combat. Depending on who you believe 20 to 40 personnel are needed per soldier in the field. We don't go to kill people, we go because we swore to protect our nation and it's people. We can't help it if our political leaders decide they want to illegally invade a foreign nation. As for shooting people in remote countries, well ask the Kuwaitis if they have a problem with it. Ask the French if they had a problem with it in 1944, how about asking how Americans felt about it in 1776.
Anonymous I would like to apologise before I begin. At its first reading I found the question to be offensive so I backed away and reread it a couple of times. At best, I find it to be untoward but I'm going to assume that you really want to know.
Soldiers in any army are all human beings and have sisters, brothers, children, wives, mothers and fathers who, regardless of their country, worry, hope, love and cry in the same language.
Barring the crazies I find it rather naive to suggest that one may not be affected by the thought of, if not the experience of being responsible for taking away someones son, father, husband or brother. The realization during the first encounter that you are even going to try to do this 'thing' has a profound affect on someone for the rest of their lives to varying degrees.
It may begin with guts, glory, shiny shoes and a pretty uniform but when the shooting starts all soldiers are created equal. All soldiers do what they have to do and afterward they all try to live with it in their own way.
Finally, not all soldiers ever see the enemy or fire a shot in anger but in the back of their mind they know that their primary function in the organization is to destroy the enemy.

You're reading Soldiers: Doesn't it bother You that You are killing people? If You've been to war, why have you gone there? Money? Adventure? Ego? Or do You actually believe You are doing something good by shooting to some people in remote countries?
Comments
This is Your belief that Afghanistan and Iraq
are fought for protection or freedom. Many people
don't approve of this war. And in my opinion
using the sentence "fighting hard for freedom"
while invading a foreign country is ridiculous.
I didn't approve of soldiers going to these
wars and fighting them.
.
This question was not meant to disrespect anyone,
nor talk about politics, but a genuine question
asking what such a soldier feels after killing
a person by the orders of a government.
.
I see, for many people, asking about killing people
by soldiers is a taboo question. Well that's Your
problem.

+4 AutismKnows. I disagree with you on many points, and only supported your DR because of the malicious nature of the question. I would hope you value free speech enough to have not DR'd instead simply because you don't share another's opinion. As with Anonymous however, I support your right to state your opinion without recourse. It is open criticism that had kept our country free.

I never dr anything here on AB but this question hit a spot. I realize that many people share my opinion and the opinion of Anonymous.
It was how the question was worded that bothered me. It felt as if this person was attacking soldiers in general (not the war). I do not agree with the most recent war that Bush has gotten the US into, however, there are many great things the Military does for our country. If you are upset about the war, that is great, I am too, but why would you choose to demean and downgrade the soldiers that are simply following orders from our government. I am sure many of them do not agree with the war either but they can not just simply walk away from the military. Sorry for the length of this. Just thought I would let you know the reason for my dr. I didn't want to be a hit and run dr. lol

PS... Good point Stepper, however, because of the nature of the question I dr it. Everyone has an opinion, I agree, but the question seemed as if it was worded to degrade and humiliate, which was obviously not what Anonymous intended but thats what it sounded like, thats all.

@Autism Knows
Maybe I used the wrong words.
.
As for the rest, read the answer that Stepper gave.
Especially the 2nd and 3rd paragraph. That's the
answer to:
"(...) but why would you choose to demean and
downgrade the soldiers that are simply following
orders from our government. I am sure many of them
do not agree with the war either but they can not
just simply walk away from the military. (...)"
