I would say that if someone put themselves on the Organ Donor list, the family really shouldn't have any say in the matter. I mean, you should respect their choices for what happens to their body after their death, especially when donating organs can save lives.

No. To quote a favourite comedian of mine, I've never understood why a person's family have thought "Oh no! Dave's kidney is in another person instead of a ditch."

  • No, I think those under 18 should even be allowed to donate organs.

You sign the donor card but the hospital will ask the spouse or nearest relative
for permission. My son received a transplant from a person who died.
The donor was a three year old girl who died in a hit & run car accident.
If person is a minor who died its up to the parents to give permission to take the organs.
While I was at hospital with my son a man was sitting beside me --- his wife just died.
He said to me they can have all her organs but they cant have her eyes.
The hospital did what the husband wanted
This is something that should be discussed by two people in the event of a untimely death.
If the person who died is an adult & wishes his organs be donated the family should allow it in order to save a life. So yes I would allow any organs to be donated
by a loved one if that was their wish. I have seen many transplant patients who are alive today because of donated organs. My son is one of them.
