I have a 1985 ford van in excellent running condition. i have sketched a way to add a propeller to the back end by putting a 4x4 transmission and using back wheel drive to power it. now how do i make it float across an ocean?

    I hope you are rich... after you get all of the mods done for the propeller to work, you will have to make sure there arent any holes in the body where water can get though. You will need to put a snorkel kit on it, extend the exhaust so it is above water level, you will most likely have to put better seals around all of the doors to prevent water from leaking in. You may have to fill all of the doors to prevent water from getting in through the door handles. You should consider using the front wheel portion of the 4x4 so that you can disengage the propeller when you are on land. Have you attacked a plan on steering? Your front wheels may give you a little bit of steer, but not much. If you plan on going into salt water, you should have everything covered in marine paint due to quicker rusting with salt water. There is a ton of other things that need to be done, but it would take forever and a day to tell you. Good luck though. If you ever get it done, I'd like to know how it goes.
