Try pushing the button on the dash while someone else is gently lifting up on the hatch. Sometimes the pneumatic pressure in the unlatching mechanism isn't quite strong enough -- like an uncharged shock absorber.

You're reading I have a 1998 blazer and the rear hatch will not open. i tried to key and i pushed the button on the dash and the dash button sounds like the hatch has opened but it didnt any advice

the button on the inside has released the hatch but the latch is jammed still.
