Overrated.
It's good at what it does, but it's not worth spending more on a piece of software than I did on half of half of the cars I have ever owned.
Now, take a look at http://www.gimp.org/ and http://www.zdnet.co.uk/misc/print/0,1000000169,39288136-30000025c,00.htm and tell me if it's worth spending hundreds of dollars for Photoshop when GIMP is free.
For most people, the answer is no.
