  • After reading the article I must say perhaps. http://www.time.com/time/world/article/0,8599,1934193,00.html I agree that people need identity to support a sense of community. However the French Far Right may be planning to use that community to promote violence and that would be damaging to all. I recall the Fiji coup of 1987 and thought then it was a microcosm of the situation of all countries that are experiencing a population shift due to immigration. Certainly the Fijians have a right to be self determining on their own island. When the immigrant population approaches out numbering the indigent population then what should you do. The native American Indians no doubt discussed this in their tribal counsels before going to war with the US cavalry. General Custer was one who lost in the short run. Surely there were Indian displacements during the years prior to 1492 also.
  • Well the far right in France never really went away since World War 2, it only went underground. France collaborated with the Nazis, and even helped deport and exterminate undesirables, such as Jews and Gypsies. This mentality exists now as it did 60 years ago, all over Europe. So maybe this is just this mentality once again rearing its ugly head.
