Does your SV2000 DVD combo Recorder says "can not record". Simple solution before you go out and buy a new one is to simply buy a 10 brush DVD Laser Lens Cleaner and clean the lense. No more grinding noise and problem solved!

I have a funai sv2000 wv10D6 Video recorder. I can play a dvd on it with no problem. I have my cable going through it to the tv. When there is no dvd in it, the VCR goes off every 10 minutes. I can cut it off and back on and still get my picture on tv.

My new Panasonic DVD player plays fine for a while then stops/skips (like a scratched record) before freezing then I can't stop/eject - have to switch off. The manual mentions using a lens cleaner - is it worth a try before I go back to the shop?
