I do enjoy some of the older poetry. I'm not a big fan of free verse. It is another of those things that seems to have no art. There is no skill or labor that goes into them. Believe me, I've taken a college course on writing poetry, and I've heard all the excuses for it. I know that there is supposedly a lot of work that goes into figuring out where to break the line and that it emphasizes a particular word. In truth, the Emperor has no clothes.
But I'm very fond of some of the old Longfellow and Tennyson poems.
Occasionally I do like to read some of the old stuff. +4
Only stuff by T.S. Eliot or Edgar Allen Poe.
I do, though I did so much more when I was younger. My favorites....
e.e. cummings
Edna St. Vincent Millay
There are others but those two are my favorites! :)
Not. . . . . .particularly! But my FAVORITE is "The Raven" by Edgar Allen Poe! Can almost recite it by memory!
