Help answer this question below.
Have you installed all the latest updates, including vista service pack one and two? It's important , mandatory if your os is to run smoothly, to do all the updates, more so than in any other operating system, in fact, vista will force you to install updates by making other things go haywire, even stop working all together until you do. I think the vista loop might be one of those incidents.
How do I find history files in Vista?

Lately I hear tiny beep when I try to access the HD. It doesn't access. I try again and it does. The screen freezes up or the cursor stops.

You're reading I have a laptop with the vista update looping problem, it has now gone into 'windows cant fix this problem'. ive searched everywhere for an answer, do microsoft actually have a fix for this?
Comments
Ironically, that's also the reason why vista is more secure than any other os before. I've tried windows7, it' pales in comparison to vista ultimate 64bit, huge system requirement demands and all, I still love me Vista Ultimate 64 bit.

thank you, it seemed to have affected a huge proportion of vista users early this year actually on an update installation, i cant believe microsoft havent offered a fix patch or something, surely theyre liable for screwing my machine. one place did offer the vista repair disk (not recovery)jus a copy of the disk sent out with vista software and as i saw in the forums, did stop the loop! but alas not mine (got some kind of error)

Was your installation a clean instal or an upgrade from XP?
by CaRbOnPrOdUcK is Baccuss on December 4th, 2009
it came with the lappy, just found a possible solution !http://news.softpedia.com/news/Get-Vista-Out-of-the-Infinite-Reboot-Loop-Configuring-Updates-Stage-3-of-3-0-with-Vista-SP1-78933.shtml
by strange1 still in pb on December 4th, 2009
Clean instals normally wouldn't experience this kind of problem because they have the data to recover, or prevent this during updating integrated in the os, that's why I bet yours wasn't from a clean instal was it. (putting the chilly cube in a head lock and screaming) WASN"T IT? ;)

I still don't understand why laptop company's get away with supplying incomplete OME operating systems. They should all be hunted down and killed with an ax...rally they should...(said while giving myself the willy's and closing all my curtains) ;)

well it was trying to install sp1 i think, there was an awful lot of it,this was nearly 2 years now
by strange1 still in pb on December 4th, 2009
yeha sure it was (said all condisending like) are you going to switch to windows 7 or stick with Vista? I have a disk you can borrow. ;)
by CaRbOnPrOdUcK is Baccuss on December 4th, 2009
i agree but like i said, the repair disk just errored and i saw the exact description from someone else
by strange1 still in pb on December 4th, 2009
i dont like vista , the laptop is mydaughters -i have xp which im perfectly happy with and i have the disk!:)
by strange1 still in pb on December 4th, 2009
Thats cause the repair disk was incomplete, damn laptop company's too cheap to buy a mass user key for the complete version of an operating system, it doesn't pay off to cut corners in the long run, Vista is at fault partially too, it shouldn't allow laptop companyies to give their customers incomplete versions therefore should provide a mass user key for the same price as the cut down version.

If your laptop doesn't meat the strict vista system requirements (alot of computers don't, that's one of the complaints consumers had) then XP will and is the best operating system to use. The only benefit of Vista, is if you have a bleeding edge hardware configureation, with loads of memory, it's not for everyone, that's why they build windows 7, it's system requirements are more like that of XP and it doesn't have the strickt memory requirements of vista.
by CaRbOnPrOdUcK is Baccuss on December 4th, 2009
yes i agree its puzzling how the disk worked for some and not others its even linked to from the microsoft forum and was (few weeks now) the only available solution
by strange1 still in pb on December 4th, 2009
It does however, have the saftey features that were and still are sorely missing in xp. Security is great in vista and windows 7, (i hear) but if your using xp, make sure you get xp service pack three, download it and any other updates xp recommends, and always use virus software. xp doesnt' have the integrated malware protection like vista and win7, but can be made much more s ecure with a trip to Microsofts download site, and download XP service pack 3.

yes it came with high specs, got the same for her bro at the same time, problem was i think, she had updates turned off at some stage
by strange1 still in pb on December 4th, 2009
It worked for some not for others probably becasue the ones it did work for, were completely up to date on their updates, where the ones that didn't more than likely were not as complete in their necessary updates. It shouldn't be an issue, and isn't now that service pack one and two are out and ready to install. ;)

im an avid fan of sp and updates ,i even got xpsp3 early with the little manipulation trick you had to do to download it
by strange1 still in pb on December 4th, 2009
The one thing i like about vista is it forces you to update important patches and things by farking up your ability to do other stuff. SOrt of holds a gun to your head. Alot of people ignore updates and it got them into alot of trouble with xp, so i guess vista desided to be pushy and force updates on the user or literally render their machines unusable. I couldn't go on the internet OR use my printer until i figured out i haven't installled service pack two yet. Now I know. BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAK...ew
granny apple backfire...hahahhahahha

SP3 is a must if you want to stick with xp. But so is good virus and antifpy software, remember, xp doesn't have integrated protection that the newer os have, but installing your own protection can easily remedy that, you don't need to buy a hole new os, just protect the old one.....
