Christians are under a new covenant with God, that began with Jesus' crucifixion. Believers, after Jesus' death, have salvation through Jesus. Before Jesus those who followed God had to follow the Law. Read the Old Testament of the Bible. Jesus fulfilled the Law, so now believers are not under the Law. This is explained in the New Testament of the Bible.
We know from the Old Testament that the Jews are Gods chosen people, and that people went to Heaven. Jewish religion does not accept Jesus as the Son of God. They still live under the laws of the Old Testament, or Torah. How God is going to judge them for this, only God knows.
Buddhists and Pagans are not followers of God, and therefore will not enter into Heaven. They need to repent and accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior, as the Bible assures us that if they don't they will perish in the Pit of Fire.
I pray that this answers your question. If not, send me a comment and I'll expound further.

...trust in the Lord Jesus Christ.

I believe that those that put their faith in what the coming Messiah (Jesus Christ) would do at the cross when He came were saved and went to "Abraham's bosom" (See Luke Ch.16) until Christ came and died for mankind. I believe that sometime between His death and His ressurrection on the third day, Jesus went to that place and got the Old Testament saints and took them to heaven with Him. I believe that those that did not have their faith in God went to hell. I hope that this helps. Thank you and God bless you!

    Who? What?

    Who told you that?

That is not the way Christianity works. I was raised Christian / Catholic and this was a point that was often debated, but with theologist at hand (my father being one of them)( this was the answer I was given:

You need to live a fair life, and believe in God. If you were born in India and your family's Hinduism becomes your own,you will not go to hell.
    You will be saved.

Jews go to heaven, Buddhists go to heaven, Muslims go to heaven, Non religious people go to heaven I'm sure.
Pagans go to heaven. It's not so black and white, and certainly Christianity doesn't have the upper hand in deciding who goes and who stays.

Heaven,Sin,guilt, hell are all human creations for controlling your mind. God itself is being sold very well as super human.

Heaven concept is truly misinterpreted to suit the power hungry religiuos men to rule the poor.

    that's right,
Jesus is the way the truth and the life.
the ones who died before Jesus was here believed God when he talked about the coming Messiah.
those like Abraham,David,Job,and many others followed God and his laws, they went to paradise, not hell.
even the thief on the cross next to Jesus who asked Jesus to remember him went to paradise ,Jesus told him he would.
after Jesus died he went to hades and took those who were waiting for him to heaven.

if you don't accept Jesus then he wont accept you,it's just that simple.

Old question, I know, but I feel the need to answer it since I don’t think an appropriate answer has been given. (And no, I didn’t downrate anybody; we’re all welcome to our beliefs.)

According to the Church of Jesus Christ, God will judge who had sufficient opportunity to accept Christ as Savior within this life. Those that did will have made their choice before dying, be it to follow Him or otherwise. Those that did not, however, will receive said opportunity in the Spirit World—which is only logical, if one believes in a just, merciful, and loving Father in Heaven.

In short, the Lord’s missionaries in the Spirit World both have preached and continue to preach to those that lived before Christ, to Jews, to Pagans, and to anybody else that did not (in God’s own judgment) have sufficient opportunity to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, so they have that chance to so do before the so-called “Final Judgment.”

    HTH!

Prior to Jesus, those people had God's Law. They will be judge by the Law.. Live by the Law, die by the Law. Jesus came to die for our sins, to uphold the law, be our mediator with God and give us the chance at everlasting life. Those before Jesus, lived by the Laws that God gave them thru Moses

Well, according to Dante Aligheri and his books of the Divine Comedy, all those guys before Jesus went to Limbo where they have niether punishment nor salvation.

    savedbyGodsgrace

People in the Old Testament went to heaven the same way we do today. For by grace are ye saved through faith, and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works lest any man should boast Ephesians 2:8,9. The people before Christ looked forward (God gave them faith) to Christ to come and animal blood was shed not only in obedience to God, but a picture of Christ's shed blood for sins). Today we look back (God gives faith) that Christ came, shed His blood for our sins, died and rose again.

Presumably according to that Jews would have gone to heaven up until it was decided Jesus was the sun of God. Pagans... well we go to church on a Pagan holy day not a Christian one (well it is a Christian one now, but it used to be Saturday, like in Judaism today) does that maybe indicate they were people of God too? Probably not but hey.

That just leaves the Buddhist, well come on who could refuse a Buddhist entry? They couldn't hurt a fly. No crusades or anything. So I reckon they're probably allowed through even today. The exception that proves the rule.

This is, of course, all assuming heaven exists!

I hope you are well a very old question in computer life . Some of the answers given toyou contained major mistakes some who call themselves christian won't go to paradise but to some degree of hell. Hell is not a permanent place but gives those confined in it a chance to repent and receive that reward they deserve . In the end death and hell will be cast into the lake of fire . The city of Enoch {zion] will return before the end of the earthly system as a place of safety Zion in the king james bible has a couple of words to get an proper understanding of your question please go to my profile and put in the link that will give you free axcess to many christian books .

God is loving and just. If a person never had a chance to know the truth God won’t disregard that person. God will judge everyone accordingly how you lived your life. I believe if a person lives this life doing good to others they will be in heaven.

It seems that there is a LOT of confusion about what really happens when we die. I don't think anyone really knows but many people speculate and form their own opinions from life and scripture and we get many versions of "truth." Sometimes I think religion has been used mainly as a weapon to control people from hurting others more than a path for spiritual growth to the light of God's love. Many churches are merely committees of flawed people doing flawed things with infighting and harsh judgments. At least that has been my experience.

For what it is worth, here is a take on death from a long time Christian who almost died but didn't and had a NDE instead. Things look a whole lot different from what I was taught. Does that make me evil and an agent of Satan?? Some people think so even though I had a beautiful spiritual experience that is ineffable. I tell religious people (as opposed to spiritual ones) that if what I experienced had anything to do with Satan, then we are ALL doomed as we will all be fooled and lured into a Love that is beyond all understanding.

If your intentions are pure and you try to treat everyone with God's love (and their are MANY names for God) why would He reject you for trying to be faithful in your own way. We are all children of God and he would never reject us for not knowing that the religion we have been raised up in is somehow flawed. ALL religions are flawed because they have been warped by our own human egos and interpretations.

The part of us that loved God and helped others with His love will surely be made righteous and live forever in eternity within the Light of God's love. The part of us that is evil will be burned away. Hopefully that will be a very small part of your spirit.

If there is far more bad than good in your life, you will suffer more in His presence as your eyes are fully opened to the pain you created in the world for your own selfish benefit. This is truly punishment and a terrible humiliation as everything will be known and transparent during the time of judgement and you will experience all pain you created through the eyes of those you hurt or mistreated. Can you imagine a greater Hell?

At some point, there will be forgiveness as you fall into the womb of God and are accepted as his child and loved with a love you never knew existed. Love on earth is a mere candle flame. Love in the womb of eternity is the love of a million suns and all mothers throughout time combined.

You will be made feel worthy wherever possible and then purifed to allow you to stay in His light and love forever. All your own pain suffered at the hands of others will be healed and you will have a lightness of being that is not possible on earth. You will praise God and his creation in a place where time does not exists, only eternal love.

I think this is true for all those who try to spread love in the world, no matter what your religion. Is Christ a part of this ? The Bible does say that he is the door to eternal life. But does that mean that he is a bouncer for those who don't have an invitation but have shown God's love a good portion of their lives and seek him in ways their family has taught them ? Should Muslims, Jews or Hindus convert to Christianity and be killed or shamed out of their families just to placate our Christian religion ?

I think religion forms God's image in the likeness of man if left unchecked and makes God very, very small. I think it would be wonderful if all humanity could all praise God in unison. What a wonderful heaven on earth that would be. Be alas, religion will not EVER let that happen. It will only happen once God can erase our ignorance and show us his glory.

jews, pagans and even satanists can go to heaven to live with Jesus for all eternity . how? all they have to do is to accept Christ as their Lord and Saviour before they die.
you can live without Christ, but you dont want to die without him.

ye believe in God... believe also in me. God tells us that now we have the hope of heaven through His Son Jesus Christ. Before that there was OT law. Now... the veil that once separated man from the Father has been torn, and we have Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. They were under the Law. We are under Jesus' Sonship.

The thing about Christianity is that it was based on Wicca initially. Many of the very Goddesses we work with are also considered saints in the Catholic church. They are honored on the same days in both religions. Many of the symbols used are used in both. Christianities birth, was Wicca. Few people want to believe that. The Celtic Cross was inspired by St. Patrick who felt that to get followers in the Christian religion he needed to incorporate Paganistic beliefs into Christianity, so the circle in the Celtic Cross was incorporated into the Christian cross. Most of the Catholic church follows old beliefs. Convents came from Covens etc.

Here's how it works. If you truly accept Jesus as your personal saviour you will go to heaven, but you must truely madly deeply mean it (with emphasize on the 'madly' part), and you must do so before you die. There are prays and psalms you can read that assure God will know you mean it, but any way is fine. So, if you killed a million people, that doesn't matter (because people are sinful, and God knows people are sinful, and he created people in that sinful way, he understands).

The people who lived before Jesus lived are doomed. Even jews couldn't go. The laws are written so that no man could ever 'entereth in', you had to be a saint, and as we all know, men are no saints, men are sinful.

Buddists can go, pagans can go, but of course, they have to convert before they die and mean it.

There seems to be this unforgiveable sin as well. If you deny the holy spirit you are forever doomed.

So, my name is Sebastian Zander and I deny the holy spirit.

Christ came to open the door to heaven.
After the crucifixion, He was in the depths of the earth proclaiming to the patient souls that death has been conquered and that the doors to heaven are now open for those that Love God. He was like Moses leading the Israelites across the sea into the promised land.

God is Love, Jesus is God.
It's the Love in our hearts that carry us to the Lord.

The Millennial kingdom is a time of teaching. Christians will reign with Christ. Who do you think they'll reign over? Everyone but the wicked will be in the Millennial kingdom. It's a time of teaching more than a time of being lorded over. Christians will be God's teachers for the rest of God's children.

Heb.9:27: And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this judgment.

This doesn't mean that judgment immediately follow death of the physical body. Between the two is the Millennial time of teaching. Then, at the end of this time, Satan and his wicked followers will be loosed in the kingdom and all God's children will be tested on what they've learned. Judgment day is where we're judged according to our lives in the Millennial kingdom under the authority of the Truth, Way & the Life. Not of this world of chaos and confusion.

The life we're living now is a reflection of a life we've already lived. We're giving our testimony in this world of where we stand on our Love & obedience towards God and how we responded under the influence of the deceiver.

Eccl.1:9: The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.

Everything in this world has all happened before. We're reliving it. The choices we make are the choices we've already made. It's our testimony of our lives during the original rebellion. We were there.. and we're gonna see it again.

I am a Catholic Christian and in no way do I, or the Catholic Church teach that if you are not a Christian you go to Hell. The Jews had a covenant with God and God does
not go back on that. If they are righteous they will go to Heaven like any other righteous person. My Church teaches that there is some of the Truth in all religions and that salvation is possible for all who live the christian life even if they have never heard of Jesus Christ. These people are known as anonymous Christians. The Holy Spirit works in the world to bring all souls to God and have a choice to accept Him or reject Him. We are obliged as Catholics to believe in Hell, however,
we are not obliged to believe anyone is there. Incidentally, we Catholics seem to be the only Christians who believe in purgatory. Protestants believe this to be unbiblical. They are wrong as the Jews believe this which is mentioned in the OT. They call it Gehinom, a place of purifying before entering Heaven. If you think about it God would have to be unjust and cruel to send to Hell good people who through no fault of their own. People can only reject God/Jesus if they know of Him. It is more important to know how one should live. As St. Paul said 'The law of
God is written in our hearts' Also one must think of all those who lived and died before Christ. It just does not make sense. The Bible is the basis of our faith but God still speaks to us today through other means, such as literature, people, life experiences etc.
