When I turn my PS3 on all I get is the start up screen and when i try to turn it off all I get is a flashing green light and it wont shut down.

  I want to connect my pc screen to my PS3 but it only has a D-sub connector. I tried using a D-sub to VGI but it didn't work. Any advice?
