Truth in advertising here,Rosie
I think our avatars are what we would like to be. What we wish we were. An image of something we aspire to become.
advertise..?? not me, i just din want a blank picture so i opted for the picture with the sunset and palm tree :P
Mine would be advertising,I like the artists work so my avatar is of it,my screenname is what I like in life and my age when I really got into the internet.
Because it's so small most people haven't the faintest idea what mine is, so it must be pretty poor advertising, although I hope it conveys a sense of peacefulness and serenity. Of course when I had a picture of myself it was certainly truthful advertising.
Mine is just me. You cannot see my face. Mine isn't much advertising at all because you don't see much. It is so small that all you see are shapes when I respond in answers and ask questions.
its individual-i am griffin-i am what i am-others pretend-some are substitutes -what they wish they were-i dont think it matters-
Avatars are just tiny graphics that individual participants choose to show. Nothing more, nothing less. No reason to make anything more of it, unless you are in serious need of a hobby or a job.
Mine is bait and switch.
Earlier this week some people thought they were getting some of my finest abstract art, but now they're stuck with a sittin' kitten. :p
Jack Nicholson is one of my favorite actors next to Al Pacino and Robert Deniro; the name The Caretaker was bestowed upon my character by the good folks of AB via comments

Wouldnt it be great if you could add a proper big photo of yourself to your answer bag profile rather than a small teeny tiny avatar ?

You're reading Our Avatars are advertisements for us. Question is...are they advertising who we are or who we want others to believe we are? Is it "truth in advertising" or "false advertising/ bait and switch?"
