Help answer this question below.
The person below me is right, you do have to file in the state that you live in. Now here's my question. My kids' mother lives in a different state, she has put me on child support, but the courts in the state that I live in told me they couldn't set up visitation at the court hearing for child support. So I've been told to hire a lawyer and go to court on this seperately. Does this sound right to anyone? If I'm paying child support then I should have visitation for my kids without having to spend even MORE money (and time off work) hiring a lawyer and going BACK to court.
The state you live in.

Courts and attorneys are big business and are in it to make more money for each other. Frequently the woman has the state paying for her attorney, so she has no incentive to make it easier. I take it you and your ex don't get along at all. If you do, or can, it is much easier. My ex and I have nothing about visitation in writing, but he and my son still spend as much time together as they want to ... which is quite a bit.
