I would change it for every oil change. It will save you a load of money in the long run. Also, invest in an oil filter magnet
I would. The filter is there to remove contaminants from the oil. If you have ever felt the dirty oil with your fingers, you would feel that it's kind of gritty. By not changing the filter you are recirculating that material. Kind of defeats the purpose. It's just an extra 6-10 dollars for a filter. Cheap insurance.
No its not absolutely necessary if you change it every 3000 miles, but they only cost a few bucks don't be so cheap. Its there for a reason.
you really should change it every time you change the oil because if you don,t then all your doing is leaving a quart of dirty oil in the engine. they don,t cost that much anyway. you can get then for about 3 or 4 dollars which is cheaper then another engine.
