No way, that is completely discriminatory. I can't believe you would even ask that.

Would you say it should be legal to fire any black or hispanic that works for a company?? What if that black person where gay?? Or transgendered?? Then not only would you be a racist but discriminating...Imagine if the world ran on those ideals still...Why would you ask this question? You must have known what kind of responses you were going to get.

Certainly not. But I fear that some companies require employees to sign certain "morality" clauses when they are hired -- so like in the military it is technically legal to fire them. Not cool.

It is done all the time though. More likely they are never hired in the first place. This is done more in the US then any other place I have ever lived.

We are gradually coming around to the point where the only valid reasons for firing someone is that they aren't performing their job adequately, or they are a disruptive influence in the workplace. As long as you meet those two criteria, there should be no grounds for firing you.

    No..............
    Why?
Becuase they are homosexual means they cannot be a productive worker?
    no...

    Thats a silly question.
A person doesnt have to agree with the ways nor love the ways, but it doesnt mean they shouldnt accept the person for who they are and love them for being them.

A person should not be fired because of their sexual preference as long as that does not interfere with the way they do their job.

Absolutely not! I wish people would just let them be. I know a number of gay people and we have discussed at length how they feel about it. One of my cousins (who is gay), who has 2 degrees (psychology and business administration) who works as a director and manages around 150 people -- very intelligent -- told me "why would I choose being gay on purpose? Why would I set myself up to be ostricized by society and set myself up to discrimination?" I can also tell you that the gay people I know have more successful and longer lasting relationships than most heterosexual couples I know.

What a ridiculous reason for firing someone - who an employee goes to bed with after work is nothing to do with an employer!

Equally, if someone is not good at the job and is not delivering to the required standard the employer should not be afraid to sack them for fear of them playing the sexual discrimination card...

Lets be honest here, it depends on the position.

If I have a high profile sales position open and hire a professional looking person who will be required to meet with clients face to face. For the sake of argument lets say this person is male and showed up in a suit for the interview. Now hes dressing up as a female and meeting with my clients. I dont give a rats ass hes outa there.

I think employers should be able to fire anyone with no cause whatsoever -- and it is like that in most states. However, I don't think people should be treated differently because of whom they choose to sleep with. But, in all cases, I defend the right of a business owner to hire and fire whom he pleases.

In most States employees are hired and fired at will, meaning an employer can fire an employee for any subjective or whimsical reason, except for race, religion, national origin, or age. Some States have added sexual orientation to that proscribed list. I believe there is a bill in Congress to outlaw discrimination based on sexual orientation. Personally, I do not believe a person should be fired except for poor job performance, illegal acts, or behavior harmful to the employer, co-employees, or others. Unless being gay, bisexual, etc., interferes with an employee's job performance or is a threat to others in the workplace (the same rule applicable to heterosexuals)an employer should not be sanctioned by law to fire someone for sexual orientation alone.

Sure. Also blue-eyed blondes (dye job or natural), brown-eyed brunettes, those who love hotdogs, those who are vegans, those who use makeup, those who never use makeup, those who believe in a higher power, those who don't, those who disagree with you and finally everyone who agrees with you. Did I miss anyone? :)

Maybe. Not if the only evidence of that is what they do on their private time, but let's just suppose a male pilot shows up to work one day in a slinky gold sequined dress instead of his pilot's uniform. It's perfectly reasonable to fire him on the spot, not because of his sexual orientation, but for refusing to follow protocol, for not complying with company dress code, for letting his personal sexual agenda interfere with his work, and possibly (some would argue) for creating a hostile work atmosphere.

Definitely no.Discrimination is wrong.Someone's sexual orientation is their own business. It has nothing to do with their job.

No, not just for the fact that they are gay, lesbian, bi sexual or transgendered. It would have to in some way affect the work environment, related to performance rather than sexual preference or title, my opinion.
