    Professionally Researched. (What's this?)

The state sales tax in Georgia is 4 percent. Each county, however, charges an additional sales tax. The counties of Bibb, Burke, Cherokee, Cobb, Douglas, Gwinnett, Muscogee and Wheeler charge 2 percent extra, Atlanta County charges 1 percent extra, and all other counties charge 3 percent extra sales tax.
