Plants, especially newly planted ones, need to be watered every other day to maintain adequate moisture levels. Keeping moisture levels high will help your plant's foliage become lush and full. Besides adding water to a pot or garden, you should mist the leaves with a sprayer attachment or a watering can.

On the Other: Less Frequent Waterings

Watering less frequently will force your plants' roots to dig deeper into the ground for water. Deeper roots means stronger plants. When watering daily you can over water the plant and invite mold or fungus into your plant or flower bed. For drought accustomed plants watering daily is too much water.

    Bottom Line

Don't rely solely on rainfall to water your plants. Nurture your plants daily with water unless they are drought succulents or of a tropical variety. Use a gentle flow of water to moisturize the ground around the base of the plant.
