    Professionally Researched. (What's this?)

Frank W. Woolworth founded F.W. Woolworth Co. in 1879. The company acquired G. R. Kinney Corporation in 1965. The merger resulted in the opening of the first Foot Locker store in 1974. F.W. Woolworth Co. became Venator Group, Inc., in 1999 before changing its name to Foot Locker, Inc., in 2001.
