  • Baseball cards have been around for more than a hundred years. In January of 2009, Bernice Gallego of Fresno, California found a baseball card in a box of old papers that was printed in 1869 and worth well over $100,000. Selling old baseball cards can be a lucrative process if you have the right cards in the right condition.

    Baseball card trade shows

Take your old baseball cards to card and trade shows. The trade show market is not as popular as it used to be, but serious collectors attend these shows and you can get the most money for your cards in this market. See Festivals-and-shows.com to look for upcoming baseball card trade shows by state.

    Bulletins and Magazines

Check retail stores in your community that sell sports memorabilia, and magazines like "Tuff Stuff" and "Beckett." These magazines have price listings and other valuable information (including occasional card show listings). Note that the price guides list what at a certain card should sell for, but that's not necessarily what someone will pay you for it.

    Online markets

To reach a potential national market, set up an account with Ebay to post cards for auction, or search sites like baseballcardsbuyers.com or dacardworld.co that buy cards. These websites have exact criteria for what they are currently looking for. For example, in 2009, dacardworld was only buying single ungraded cards that were printed before 1970, complete sets released before 1980 and graded cards released before 1975. Selling online can be tricky because of shipping and payment processes. Be sure you are dealing with a legitimate buyer before shipping off your more valuable cards.
