Mercedes-Benz has provided keyless entry as a standard feature on all of its vehicles since the early 1990s. Keyless entry has eliminated the hassle and possible damage associated with opening a door by inserting the key into the lock. The current company name for the keyless system is "Smart Key." Mercedes-Benz has incorporated the ignition key into a plastic box that offers several features to owners. The key has the ability to lock and unlock one or all doors, open the trunk, and engage the alarm system. Newer Smart Keys have the ability to raise and lower the windows, as well as open and close a sunroof. Push the "Lock" button once to lock all doors, the trunk, and the gas-filler door of the car. On the Smart Key, holding the lock button for three seconds closes any open windows and the sunroof. Press "Unlock" once to unlock the driver's door. Press again to unlock all passenger doors. With the Smart Key, holding the button for three seconds lowers the windows and opens the sunroof. Press and hold the "Trunk" button to open the trunk. The red button engages the alarm system on the car. To turn it off, simply press the button again.Keyless Transmitter
