    BMW uses transmissions from GM, who also supplies Mercedes with transmissions. Mercedes, GM, Chrysler and BMW have partnered to create an efficient hybrid transmission. BMW has bought parts cooperatively with Mercedes in the past, and the two companies have previously considered opening a shared transmission factory in the United States.
