  • The three major credit bureaus -- Experian, Transunion and Equifax -- each provide their own versions of your credit report. Consumers are entitled under the Fair Credit Reporting Act to receive a free copy of these reports once a year. However, the only way to get your FICO score for free is to apply for a loan. The loan officer usually will provide you with your score prior to approving or denying your loan. There also are credit monitoring services, such as freecreditreport.com, that will give you your FICO score if you sign up for a free trial. If you don't cancel the service after the trial period expires, you will be charged a monthly fee.
