    Professionally Researched. (What's this?)

Muriatic acid is added to pools to lower ph, which should be between 7.4 and 7.6. Two-and-a-half to 3 oz. of muriatic acid should be added for every thousand gallons of water for a pool that has a ph over 8.0.
