A cylinder head is placed above the cylinders of internal combustion engines, and is a detachable plate that covers the closed end of cylinder chamber in a responding pump or engine.
Function
The cylinder transfers rotational mechanics to the linear mechanics engine from the crankshaft to operate valves. Inside, there are ports for a fuel and air mixture to journey to inlet valves from the intake for exhaust gases so that antifreeze can cool the engine.
Importance
The cylinder head is basic to the performance of the internal combustion engine.
Reverse Flow/Non-Crossflow
This type of cylinder head locates the intake and exhaust ports on the side of an engine. In order to exit the head, gases enter the cylinder head and change direction.
Remanufactured
A remanufactured cylinder head is the kind of head that is rebuilt with the parts that are still functional. Each head is pressure tested to guarantee no leaks in the casting.
Engine Configuration
The number of cylinder heads in an engine plays a role in the engine configuration. One cylinder is a straight engine, while ones with usually two cylinder heads are a V engine, or a boxer engine.
