  • Deleting individual web addresses from your Internet browser's history can be quite beneficial in avoiding deleting web activity you actually need. With just a couple of clicks, you can begin deleting immediately. Once the Web addresses have been deleted, they will no longer be listed within your current history that still remains in the browser.

    FireFox

FireFox navigation requires more keyboard entry than mouse usage, which is quite simple to remember. Once the FireFox browser is open, press the downward arrow, to the right of the location bar at the top of the browser window, to display all of the web URL addresses that are saved in the browser. Press the down key on your computer's keyboard to scroll through the list of addresses, and highlight the one you want to delete. Press and hold the "SHIFT + DEL" keys on the keyboard at the same time to remove the web address. When you release the keys, the web address will be removed from the list. The change is permanent and it will not reappear, unless you retype the address in the data form and access the site again.

    Internet Explorer

Deleting Internet Explorer form data, such as individual web addresses, can be done but only to a certain extent. Depending on the version of the Internet Explorer browser, you can complete this process in one of two ways. You can opt to simply delete all of the form data information by going to the Internet Settings through the browser's navigation menu, or you can use another alternative method most users are unaware of. You will need to open the Run application within the Start dropdown menu. (This application is at the bottom of the Start menu in XP. If you are operating on Vista, you must simply type "Run" in the search form within the Start dropdown menu.) When the Run application opens, type the term, "RegEdit" in the data form, just as it appears, and click OK. In the search results that will be generated, locate the registry key file location, "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Typed URLs". Scroll through the list of web URL addresses, and delete the current ones you no longer want to display. When you reopen the browser, these web URL addresses will no longer be listed.
