MySpace offers a number of ways for members to interact with each other, including the MySpaceIM instant messenger application for Windows. Although these features are fun to use, many people are concerned about privacy issues, while others want to free space and not retain outdated information. Whatever the reason, you can easily create a setting to automatically delete this MySpace history in your account.

Install the MySpaceIM Messenger Application

To begin, install the MySpaceIM application if you have not already done so. First, access the "MySpaceIM with Skype" page to download the instant messenger application. Click the orange "Download Now!" button to download the executable (EXE) file for Windows to your desktop. Next, if you are using Internet Explorer, double-click the download and click the "Run" option to start the installation. Otherwise, follow the prompts to save the installer to disk, double-click the icon to start the installer and continue by following the prompts to complete the installation. After installation, launch the downloaded application by double-clicking program icon on your desktop, or choose to navigate to this program on your computer by going to "Start," "Programs," "MySpace" and then select "MySpaceIM." Finally, enter your MySpace username and password in the application's dialog window.

Set the Preferences to Automatically Delete Chat History

Set the preferences in your MySpaceIM application to ensure messages you send or receive are not saved. First, launch the instant messenger program (if it's not already open) by logging into your MySpace account or double-clicking the application icon on your desktop. Continue by clicking the "File" link in the main messenger window; select "Preferences" from the drop-down menu. Next, select the "Message History" tab on top, check the box next to the "Do not save my IMs" option; click the "OK" button when finished. MySpace will no longer record any future chats.
