When troubleshooting your HP laptop screen, you may encounter some degree of difficulty. However, some solutions turn out to be rather simple.
Battery
According to HP, your screen display light will become dim if the battery needs to be charged. Ensure that your laptop is properly charged at all times.
Dim at Startup
According to HP, if your screen display is dim at startup, you may consider rebooting your laptop, as a first step in troubleshooting, after charging.
Energy Conservation
When not in active use, the HP laptops' screen display will dim, a feature designed to save battery energy.
Control Keys
On all HP laptops, press "F1" and "F2" to change the brightness on the display. F1 will brighten your screen display; F2 will dim it.
Adjust Brightness via Control Panel
To adjust brightness via the Control Panel, click Settings > Advanced. Listed, you will see the name of a video card. Click the name listed and then adjust the brightness of your display screen.
