It varies with the weight the 747 is at. When very heavy, an initial cruising altitude will often be 28,000 - 29,000 feet. As fuel is burned off enroute, altitude increases as the optimum altitude increases when the aircraft becomes lighter. In general in the 28,000 - 41,000 foot range.
