  • Daemon Tools is an incredibly useful tool for backing up and burning CDs and DVDs. However, because it can also be used to make illegal copies of software, some programs and games will not run if Daemon Tools is installed. Uninstall Daemon Tools using the Windows Control Panel.

    Removing Daemon Tools

To remove Daemon Tools from the computer, click the Windows "Start" button in the lower left corner of the screen, then click "Control Panel." In Windows XP, double click "Add/Remove Programs," find Daemon Tools on the list, and click the "Add/Remove" button. In Windows Vista and 7, double click "Programs and Features" in the Control Panel, find Daemon Tools, right click on it, and click "Uninstall." If the automatic uninstall fails to work, Daemon Tools can be uninstalled by running the program "uninst.exe" from the folder in which Daemon Tools is installed, or simply deleting the Daemon Tools folder itself. With some versions of Daemon Tools, it is necessary to manually delete the file "dtscsi.sys" from the C:\Windows\System32\Drivers folder.
