Once you decide how much space you need, whether you need video capability and what color you like, the choices can be narrowed down rather easily.

    Authorized iPod retailers are available online, in stores and around the globe. Check with your a local retailer for availability or order online directly from Apple.com (see Resources) or from a licensed retailer. You can also check out eBay.com and Craigslist.com for used iPods.

    Before deciding to buy an iPod, you should know that it will only add songs, update applications and sync through the Apple software, iTunes. Be sure your computer has enough memory to accommodate the software and the songs you will be housing on the hard drive. This space varies by computer, so consult Apple.com for questions regarding space. It is also important to know that CDs will have to be ripped to iTunes, and only iTunes, to sync to the iPod.
