Some Internet service providers experience some lag under very heavy traffic. This will be evidenced by the connection speed being slow at certain times of the day or at regular intervals. In cases such as this, it's usually easier to save all work and return later during off-peak hours.

Images Slower to Load

Text pages load faster by nature because of fewer bits of information on the screen at any given time. Images are at least 10 times as many bits of information and take longer to load. Some surfers disable images to get faster loading times.

If a surfer types the website as "sitename.suffix," the computer needs to check with other computers to determine if the site exists to pull up in the first place. Using the "http://" prefix tells the computer accessing the site that it does exist to be retrieved from the servers.

A disk might need to be defragmented. Additional memory might need to be installed. Disk defragmentation might be in order if a volume of video and images have been recently deleted. Reallocation of disk space by defragmentation is the easiest option in many cases.
