You're reading Im *fairly* new here and i try to put a new avatar up for my... avatar. So i select the file and then click "Choose". then i click "Submit" and then "see my public profile". its still the freaky bag!!!!

Um... see, im not a computer nerd so i dont know how to do that...
but i selected it from the list it gives you when you click change avatar, then choose, then submit, then show profile. NUTTIN HAPPIN, MON!!!

You have to go to your profile, click edit profile, where it says change avatar, click browse. Find the pic you want as your avatar and select it, then you click upload, and then you should be set, once you submit it.
