They're both easy to do, it all depends on what you're better at and which one you prefer. :-)
I would guess that wine would be the easier of the two to "create."

I've had better luck with beer. My wine experiments were undrinkable. The key with beer is fanatic attention to cleanliness. Sterilize everything. +5
I think they are roughly equally in terms of effort. There might be a few more steps with beer and of course filling smaller bottles takes a tad more time than filling fewer smaller wine bottles.
I am a home brewer and honestly I think beer is much more fun to make. It allows for more creativity as well.
I have made both and had terrible luck with both. However, wine seems to be easier for me. My beet wine of a number of years ago got pretty smooth after it aged for about a year.
My grandfather used to make wine in the basement of his house. He was from Napels and he had it down. He had the old casks and everything. Boy that stuff would knock you on your ass. I never made either.
